Dental Implants

Dental implants are titanium screws which are surgically placed into the bone of your jaw and can replace individual missing teeth or can be used to support a bridge or a denture.

I would advise patients to have the implants placed under sedation, which is performed by a specialist anaesthetist doctor

Facial cosmetic treatments

Facial wrinkles can be improved by relaxing the muscles which cause them. This is done by injecting tiny amounts of a drug (Botox or its equivalent). This blocks stimulation of the muscles. It takes only a few minutes, and creates a noticeable difference within days. Pain is minimal. I have even done it to myself so I know ! This cosmetic enhancement lasts for between 3 - 6 months depending upon the individual's skin and response. Immediately after treatment I advise clients not to undertake energetic exercise, lie down flat or drink alcohol. This is only for a few hours, otherwise you may carry on with your regular activities. I will give you some written information to take home with you.

These anti wrinkle injections are used to treat frown lines, glabellar wrinkles and crow's feet. They can also be used in a non-cosmetic capacity to treat hyperhidrosis - excessive sweating.

What is Botox

Botox is a weakened solution of a substance produced by the Clostridium bacterium. The full name is Botulinum Toxin A. Injections have been safely used for over 30 years in conventional medicine and for cosmetic therapy. Side effects very rarely occur but can include bruising and slight swelling at the site of injection, which usually disappear within a day or so.

Botox injection is an excellent, safe, quick and very effective treatment for frown lines, glabellar lines and crow's feet and is ideal for most people, with the exception of those who may be pregnant or breast feeding.

Hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating)

Perspiration is a natural process. Unfortunately some people suffer from embarrassing excessive sweat gland activity affecting areas such as hands and underarms. Hyperhidrosis can inhibit your confidence and dictate your wardrobe.

Simple injections in the areas can prevent the sweat glands from producing perspiration. The treatment begins to work within 3 to 4 days and can be effective for up to one year, allowing you to relax and enjoy life.

Dermal Fillers

I use Restylane for the correction and augmentation of wrinkles and folds on the face. Restylane is made from a natural material. It is synthesised from non-animal Hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acids are natural compounds found in your skin that holds moisture to plump out lines. When injected beneath the skin it can be used to fill out lines and depressions and enhance your lips or cheek bones.

The Restylane is administered by injection using a very fine needle. Pre-testing is not required and local anaesthetic can be applied to the treatment area prior to injection. The procedure takes around an hour and a noticeable improvement follows immediately. The effects are long lasting and usually start to wear off anywhere between 6-12 months.

Side-effects rarely occur but can include localised bruising and swelling at the site of injection, which usually disappear within a day or so. Immediately after treatment clients are advised not to have facials or undertake energetic exercise. The treated area should be left untouched for 48 hours in order to let it settle down, although you may carry on with your regular activities unaffected.

Dermal fillers are an excellent, safe and very effective treatment for lines such as nasal folds, peri-oral (smokers') lines and mouth angles, and can also be used for cheek enhancement, lip augmentation and to fill acne depressions. They are ideal for most people, with the exception of those who may be pregnant or breast-feeding.
